Is an Impact Racing 5-point harness safer than a seat belt?
Yes. An Impact Racing 5-point harness offers greater safety than a standard 3-point seat belt at racing speeds. By securing the driver at the shoulders, waist, and between the legs, it distributes forces more evenly and keeps the body firmly in place during high-speed impacts or sharp cornering.
Are Impact 5-point harnesses street legal?
In most cases, no. Most 5-point racing harnesses (including many Impact harnesses) are not DOT/FMVSS-certified as street seat belts, so they may not be legal for road use.
