A fire extinguisher must be mounted in a race car so that it's within the driver's reach when normally seated and securely belted in. The mount must include a metal quick-release bracket.
What do the letters stand for on a fire extinguisher?
All fire extinguishers come with letter ratings A, B, or C.
- A puts out fires fed by wood, paper, cloth, and ordinary combustibles.
- B is for gasoline, cooking oils, and other flammable liquids.
- C is used for electrical fires and equipment.

On average, a fire extinguisher will last up to 12 years if maintained and properly cared for.
