What is shock oil weight?
Shock oil weight indicates its viscosity. Heavy shock oil is thicker, ideal for bashing, jumping, dirt tracks, and hot-weather racing. Light shock oil is thinner; it flows faster and makes shocks feel springier, which is great for asphalt, pavement, and colder temperatures.
How often should you change your shock fluid?
You should change the shock oil in your car at least two to three times per season if you race weekly. Change your shock oil more often if the fluid is dirty, looks low, or your shocks aren't performing well.
What signs that my suspension fluid is low?
Common warning signs that your suspension fluid is low and needs to be topped off or changed include:
- Car drifting or pulling to the side around corners
- Hard steering
- Bouncing after hitting bumps
- Rough riding
