Do performance air filters really make a difference?
Yes, performance air filters like those from Walker can make a noticeable difference in a race car. They allow more air to enter the engine, which can improve airflow and lead to better horsepower and fuel efficiency.

How do you clean a Walker filter?
To clean a Walker filter:

  • Remove the filter from the engine and gently tap it or use a soft-bristled brush to remove loose debris.
  • Inspect for damage or excessive wear before cleaning.
  • Spray a liberal amount of filter cleaning solution and let it sit for 8–10 minutes to break down dirt and grime.
  • Use low water pressure from a hose or sink (never a pressure washer) and rinse until all soap residue is gone.
  • Place the filter in a sunny or dry spot until completely dry. Avoid using compressed air.
  • Apply a bead of filter oil around the circumference, about ¼ inch from each edge.
  • Allow about 1 hour for the oil to wick evenly. Add a few drops to any missed spots.
  • Once fully oiled, your filter is ready to reinstall.
